"HOW MANY ARE THERE?"

It is frequent that she acts as if there is someone besides the two of us here. Last night she prepared three plates of food (by herself). She brought one to me in the living room. I thought it looked a bit skimpy so I took it to the kitchen, looking to supplement it with bread and butter or something like that. She followed me. There I found a third plate. I suggested we divide the food between us because no one else was here. She looked back into the living room and then gave her little chuckle.

This happens almost daily. I think she misses Corey who is home with his Daddy this week.

She is still Betty in so many ways. I can't imagine that she will become violent like some do. I think she'll always share what she has even with the imaginary guests.

MY SOCIOLOGY IS DRIPPING WITH PASSION

I received a phone call one summer day. It was from Western Iowa Tech (hereafter referred to as “WIT.”) The voice on the other end was a guy named Mark who wanted to know if I was still interested in teaching psychology at WIT. I couldn’t remember if I had ever shown an interest in teaching there. Later, when he showed me my application, I slightly recalled having filled it out - probably under the influence of the Blue Bunny, my nemesis from the freezer section of my local grocery.

We had an interesting half hour discussion. I filled out a couple of more papers, some government looking stuff and other papers that looked like they'd been around since the days of mimeographs. The next thing I knew, I was signed up to teach Introduction to Sociology. He gave me a text book and several supplementary volumes with pre-written test questions, extra readings I could do and a copy of what looked like the textbook but on cheaper paper.

I toted these home, dropped them on the floor and sought solace in the freezer.

Two days later, he called again and asked, "Do you think you could handle Introduction to Psychology?" I answered in the affirmative and went back to WIT, picked up a similar pile of books and retreated to the freezer again.
